If you know Tyler Mason, you know we're more than a little obsessed with Davines. The ammonia free hair color, incredible hair products that do JUST what they're supposed to, and artistic approach to beauty are simply amazing. We're hooked, and this is one obsession we can feel good about.
Davines doesn't just make honest, high quality products; they make them with a complete and total commitment to the sustainability of our Earth. They work to replant and maintain natural resources used in areas of the world where their products are produced. They use high quality, natural ingredients found right in nature like plants, fruits and vegetables. All Davines facilities are run on solar power. All of the packaging is made using as little non-recycled material as possible, and is designed to be reused. We could go on, but what you need to know is that Davines is a zero-impact company, and that's quite an accomplishment for a major beauty brand.
It makes sense that Davines wants the salons that represent its brand to also strive to be eco-friendly, which is why we participate in Sustainable Beauty Week.
For the fourth year in a row Davines has partnered with the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation (www.ftpf.org), a charity "dedicated to planting fruitful trees and plants to alleviate world hunger, combat global warming, strengthen communities, and improve the surrounding air, soil and water." During Sustainable Beauty Week, Davines salons across the world are encouraged to raise donations for the foundation.
We're honored to take part in such a worthwhile mission, and we're taking it one step further by fundraising all month long during April. We're also working to reduce our own waste by at least 10% this month, by implementing practices we hope will become the norm:
-We're striving to be conscious of our electricity use by turning off lights, unplugging appliances when they're not in use and watching our climate control.
-Limiting our water use. Don't worry, we'll still give you the best shampoo in town, we'll just be more aware of running water.
-Reducing our color waste. It's much more sustainable for a stylist to mix more color if it's needed rather than make too much in the first place.
-We're pretty good about recycling, but there's always room for improvement. One of our goals is to make sure everything that can be recycled, is.
-We're greening up our space. On Earth Day we'll plant oxygen rich trees, flowers and plants on our property. We also repurposed Davines containers as succulent planters to use as decoration and oxygen production inside the building.
We need your help!
We can't raise money for the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation without help from you- our guests who love Davines as much as we do. If this is a charitable contribution you can feel good about, here's a list of ways you can help:
-We're donating 2% of all Davines product sales during April. When you buy products from us you're not only using sustainable, zero impact products, you're also contributing to our overall donation to the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation.
-Repurpose your own Davines containers. All of them are made with food grade plastic and are perfect for storage. Many Davines aficionados keep dry goods like grains, beans and rice in empty conditioner containers. The shampoo containers with easy pour openings are wonderful for honey, sauces, dressings, etc.
-Don't fear if you're someone who prefers their shampoo & conditioner in liters. You can still reuse them for storing food in bulk, or get crafty with flower vases and bird feeders.
-Enter our Sustainable Beauty Basket raffle. It's a basket filled with $475 worth of products including liters of Davines Love Smoothing shampoo & conditioner, styling products, a Natural Tech Hair & Scalp treatment, unique Davines products like hand lotion & candles, and makeup. Tickets are only $5 each, and you can enter as many times as you want!
We're so thrilled to be a part of Sustainable Beauty Week. Davines keeps us looking and feeling our best every single day, so we're happy to help them on their eco-friendly beauty mission. We hope you'll join us during this special month as we work to improve ourselves, our industry, and make a small impact on improving the health and nutrition of people around the world.
