Pat came prepared and showed me a look that he previously had before deciding to grow his hair out. He wanted to make sure that I didn’t take it too short because he was scared it would make his nose look big – so I made sure to keep some length. He also wanted to be able to see some hair when looking straight ahead, of course without having a mullet. J To help him achieve his desired look, I gave him a same-length all around haircut with enough hair for his curls to take full shape. To help with styling I used a dime-sized amount of our Pomade Dressing from our men’s hair care line, Gage. I evenly dispersed the pomade throughout his towel dried hair, which will help keep his curls from getting big and frizzy. It’s a low maintenance style but looks great. It’s always fun to see how a simple haircut can really transform someone’s look – and I have to say that he looks pretty good. …AND his mom can no longer call him a “dirty hippy”.

This experience was a ton of fun for a great cause! It’s why I love my job

The holidays are upon us and you know what that means. Whether you like it or not, the search for the best deals begins! With all of us trying our best to stay within a budget, every penny counts. We understand that finding ways to save this time of year is a big deal. That is why we started our HollyDEAL event. This is kind of our take on black Friday. We know it would be really hard to compete with the big dogs on the actual Friday after Thanksgiving (well…we kind of like shopping on that day too) so we wait until the next week for our big sale. So this year HollyDEAL Day falls on Fri., Dec. 2nd from 9am – 6pm and we offer 10% Off ALL Gift Cards & Products (yes, even our awesome flat irons). BUT that’s not it! The actual savings fun begins at checkout. You’ll be given a pair of dice to roll. Whatever number you roll – you’ll add to the 10% you’re already getting. For example if you roll a 4 and a 6 you’ll add 10 to the 10% – giving you a total savings of 20% off your gift card and product purchase. It’s a really fun day for all of our guests and for us here at the salon and spa. We hope to see you there!!!

Have you ever had one of those weekends where cosmic stars are aligned and everything falls into place? It could quite be one of the best weekends of your life, give or take a few. I’ve had countless great weekends in my life, and this one is in the top 10! A quick rundown of our weekend…Soho, Greenwich Village, Comedy Cellar (must go if your ever in NYC!), super fun night out, Central Park, Shopping, Dirty Heads/Sublime concert (VIP), hung out with the bands, classes with some of the “greats” in hair and then home to Indy! Whew!

Tyler Mason Salon and Spa had an awesome opportunity to visit NYC. We had the great pleasure of taking a class at the Sam Brocato Salon in Soho, which was taught by none other than Sam Brocato. When you pick up his Brocato products at our salon, just know that you are purchasing great products designed by a great man. It was amazing how Sam and his staff were so talented, down to earth and just plain nice. I take such pleasure in knowing that I not only love his products, but stand behind the man because he is a genuinely nice person. I was blown away by how a salon of this caliber still has that down home feel. It made me very proud to know that Tyler Mason also has that same warmth. We learned so much in those couple of hours we were at his salon. Here is a quick rundown of what we took away … Hair is meant to be individualized for each person. There’s no one way of cutting hair and each hair cut can be custom made for the guest’s head shape. They also previewed a new approach to straightening hair and we will be sharing that with our guests in just a few weeks. Creating a look for someone is such a creative process and the time and thought that is put into one haircut just blows my mind. It was truly an honor to be in the presence of greatness, we really can’t thank Sam Brocato and his team enough for their time.

Our next stop was at a fab restaurant in Little Italy with Joe Tucci, the brains behind the product line “Shuga”. He was a trip! From his white hair and soul patch, to his funky jacket. His stories were fun and he kept things moving. We also met John Dellaria who is the founder of Pyrametrics Cutting Method for hair cutting. He’s very soft spoken, but when he talks it’s a good idea to listen to what he says. The amount of time that is put into a product line amazes me. You have to come up with something that no one else has and that everyone wants and needs. “Shuga” is a great product and after learning more about some of their products we are very excited to bring you the entire line from “Shuga”.

There aren’t enough words to describe a weekend like we had. We brought home a lot of energy and a lot of wisdom that will stick with us for years to come. One word to sum it up would be AMAZING! Thanks to everyone involved, we can’t wait to do it again. Sam, Joe and John, thank you for taking time to teach us, we crave it and love it!
